Scary Stories brought to you by: Palio’s

With Halloween only a few days away, we wanted to entertain our loyal – and brave – customers with a few of our favorite ghost stories! From the unexplained to the downright creepy, these stories sure do give us the chills.

The Scary Selfie

A few months ago, a single mom was watching tv before bed when her son asked if he could play games on her phone. She told him he could for 30 minutes and then it was bed time. She gave the usual warnings of not to call anyone or text.

30 minutes rolled by and she decided to tuck her son into bed. She walked to his room and saw that he wasn’t there. This was odd, but no cause for concern as he would sometimes fall asleep in her room. She went into her bedroom and sure enough, he was asleep on her bed with the cell phone laying right beside him.

She covered him up and decided to just let him sleep there. She picked her phone up and decide to inspect it to make sure he hadn’t done any damage. She noticed he had been playing with the camera app and filters, so she began scrolling through the feed laughing at the faces her boy had made. That is, until she came across the last picture…

When she first saw it, she was in disbelief.

It was her son sleeping on her bed, but the picture had been taken by someone else, someone from above him… In the corner of the photo, you could see a blurry image of an old woman and half of her crazy smile.

Ghostly Headlights

On a cold October night, police begin receiving multiple calls about headlights being seen swerving off of a curvy highway road out in the middle of nowhere. Each caller was reporting seeing the same thing, two bright headlights veering off of the road and down the steep embankment.

At first, the police and paramedics could find no evidence of a car veering off the road, no tread marks on the pavement, no impressions in the dirt beyond. With no signs of an accident, the team of first responders figured this was some prank being played, but the sheer volume of calls gave them reason to search a bit harder.

Just beyond the embankment was a ravine. The cops ventured down the steep slope and saw the tail end of an old car sticking up with the front-end smashed into the ground. When they looked inside, they could not believe what they saw. Strapped in his seat belt, hanging lifelessly, was the badly decomposed body on a man, a man who had been dead for a while.

CSI determined there was no foul play, that this man died of injuries sustained during the car wreck. Based on the growth of plant life covering the car and the age of decomposition the man was found in, it was determined this wreck had taken place well over a year prior to its discovery.

That leaves one question, what caused the lights the callers were reporting? Could they have been the ghost of the accident victim?!

A Child Hitchhiker

A few years ago, a man was driving alone at night. As he crossed over a bridge, he saw a young boy on the side of the road. He figured the boy was too young to be out alone at this time of night, so he pulled over and asked if he was okay.

The boy said he was on his way home, so the man offered him a ride. The man got directions to the boy’s house and set off. They made small talk and everything seemed to be going just fine. The man learned that the boy liked football and that he had been in the car with his older brother before the man found him.

The guy figured the older brother was probably playing some trick on his kid brother and had kicked him out to make him walk. When they arrived at the boy’s house, the man dropped the kid off and drove away and went on his way.

The next day, the man decided he should tell the parents the type of trick their older son had played on the younger to prevent it from happening again. He drove back to the house and went to the door.

After a couple of knocks, a woman came to the door and greeted the man. He told the story he learned the night before to the woman. As soon as he finished, she started crying hysterically. She then told the man that her youngest boy had died a year ago when he oldest son had been driving them to the movie and was in a car accident.

The only children she has were the 2 sons.

These are the perfect scary stories to tell at any sleepover or campout! Invite friends over, order your Palio’s pizza, and settle in for a fun night of scary stories and great pizza!

HOW TO HOST SUCCESSFUL FOOTBALL WATCH PARTIES!

There are 5 key ingredients to any successful football watch party – Food. Drinks. Seating. TV. Decorations. If you are planning on throwing a watch party for any big sporting event, it is easy to make it a success, as long as you cover the basics.

The Food!

Everyone who has ever hosted a party can tell you, the most important things is the food you provide. Lucky for you, Palio’s pizza pairs perfectly with football games. So, the next time you are having a group of people over to watch the game, make sure you have plenty of Palio’s on hand to feed them all. We’d also recommend having some snacks: chips, pretzels, and candy on hand too!

The Drinks!

For everyone 21 and over, beer is a clear staple when watching football. It is great to have other drinks on hand, though. Try a signature cocktail or alcoholic punch for those that don’t like beer and maybe alcohol-free lemonade and sodas for those that don’t drink at all. Don’t worry about the presentation on drinks, just make sure they are cool and there is plenty of ice to last the length of the game.

The Seating!

You want to make sure you have enough space to accommodate the number of guests you’ve invited. Depending on the size, not everyone may be seated at the same time, but you want to make sure you have options for them. Having a few extra throw pillows on hand to serve as seating is an easy way to avoid making someone feel like they have to stand.

The Television!

Size may not matter a whole lot, but it does help to have a screen big enough for everyone to view. If the purpose of the gathering is to watch the game, you want to make sure everyone can see the action. This may require you to reposition your TV from its normal spot. Before the party starts, just think about every angle where people will be and decide where is best to place the TV.

The Decorations!

While they are not needed for every watch party, your bigger ones could use with a little sports-themed decorations. Try including colors and stuff from both teams, especially if those coming to the party may be rooting for opposing teams. It is always fun to play up the rivalries. If those invited are all coming because you are watching your local sports team, it is okay to go all out with your show of support for them.

While there are no real rules for hosting a football watch party, these 5 things are pretty essential to everyone in attendance having fun. Most importantly, these are all easy things to throw together. You can stick to the basics of each of these 5 things and have a great time or you can also go all out on providing these 5 things and really elevate your party. Keep in mind who your guests are and what they’ll expect and you should have an overall amazing time!

Tips to Make Your Kid’s Pizza Party Birthday a Success!

Every child loves a pizza party! It is a great way to entertain young kids of all ages, from 4 to 14. At Palio’s we love when we get to see families and groups of children come in to celebrate a birthday! The sound of laughter filling the restaurant puts a smile on our faces. Over the years, we’ve picked up on a few tips and tricks that can really make the party a memorable experience and create a more smooth-sailing day for the adults involved in hosting.

Entertainment is Key!

When dealing with young children, it is important to have entertainment to distract them and keep them occupied! Not only does this create a fun time for the kids, it is also a moment for parents to snap photos and create lasting memories.

  • Birthday hat or sign coloring – Have your guests decorate their own birthday hat or all work together on a big happy birthday sign. This is a great way to get the kids busy as soon as they arrive, which helps eliminate the downtime waiting on guests to arrive.
  • Pin the tail on the donkey – It may seem a bit cheesy, but depending on the age group of kids, you would be surprised how much fun this game can be. The kids will be laughing and the parents will too!
  • Craft time – In addition to being a great way to keep their attention, you can save money by using the crafts as part of the party favors! Try getting a blank canvas tote bag and have the kids decorate it with markers and stickers.

Sweets are Important!

The birthday cake or whatever type of sweets you decide on are the fuel of a kid’s birthday party! This is the one time it is okay to let them have that sugar rush. Something we have noticed, the look of the cake isn’t as important as you may think. Don’t worry about the super elaborate decorated cakes, opt for one that serves everyone and tastes great!

  • Decorate mini-cakes – a fun idea and way to entertain the kids is to prepare small cupcakes with icing only, and then have a decoration bar available with sprinkles, chocolate chips, mini-marshmallows, etc. The kids will love getting to customize their own cupcake!

Memories are Forever!

Often times we see parents get too wrapped up in details to remember to take in the party and try to remember it.

  • Have a friend be a dedicated photographer – they can use their cell phone for images, but they are making a conscious effort to capture everyone in attendance.
  • Dedicate a small area as a “photo booth” – have accessories for the kids to put on for fun images.

Having Fun is What it is About!

Just remember, do not get bogged down by the details! This day is about making memories and enjoying your child having fun. As long as everyone is laughing and smiling, the pizza party will be a success! Palio’s is always here to help make your day special. Give us a call to book the space today and feel free to ask us how we can help! We love helping to celebrate birthdays and putting smiles on people’s faces.

Eat Gluten Free at Palio’s Pizza!

Despite being a buzzword for the last couple of years, people still have questions about gluten free. A few of the ones we often get asked:

Does Palio’s have gluten free crust available?

Yes, we do! Most of our menu can be made as a gluten free option. You can choose your favorite pizza and have it made with a gluten free crust anytime.

Who eats gluten free foods?

People who suffer from celiac disease have to be on a gluten free diet and those with gluten intolerance or sensitivity can really benefit from eating less gluten.

Is it easy to find gluten free options?

It can be challenging. We didn’t want these people to miss out on the great tastes of our signature pizzas, so we came up with a gluten-free crust.

Does gluten free food lack flavor?

It doesn’t have to. The difference between our regular crust and gluten free is very slight. You will still enjoy the amazing taste of a Palio’s Signature Pizza!

Palio’s Pizza Cafe is very proud to be able to provide this dietary option to our customers. It is important to us that everyone who walks through our doors be able to feel included and enjoy our wonderful foods with their friends and family.

Our gluten free crust can be consumed by our celiac customers. We do take every precaution to avoid cross contamination, but please be advised that Palio’s Pizza will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food consumed.
